Warm Weather!

Warm weather means kids are outside!  Yay!!  It has been a long time coming this year.  I looked out the window and say Abby reading to Colby on the front lawn.  It was one of those moments where you grab your camera and cross your fingers they are still looking cute by the time you get out there!  Luck was in my favor the other day.

Lacey was rolling around listen to Abby read, as we all know that one can't sit still for anything.

Colby's Birthday

If you know anything about Colby you know that he is completely addicted to popcorn.  He loves it and eats it everyday.  Give me the bad mom award if you want but somedays he has popcorn and chocolate milk for lunch.  Horrible I know but at least he is eating something right?!
There is a bulk food store around here so for his Birthday we got him a huge bag of popcorn.  And let me tell you, you have never seen a boy that excited for popcorn before!  He was yelling and jumping around!  He went and laid on the bag and hugged it!  Then when he had to go to bed he put his blanket over the bag!  (probably because we wouldn't let him sleep with it! hahaha!)
The next day when the older three were at school I let Colby go to town and do whatever he wanted with the popcorn.  He chose to do what anyone else would chose of course--snow angels! or popcorn angels I guess would be the better term!  Then he went and got his cars and played for hours in the popcorn.  He was one very happy little guy!

Giant Jenga!

So I have the great honor of being in charge of Enrichment activities for Church and we did a game night. I begged my friend to let me use her giant jenga game they made and gave to their kids for Christmas.  It was such a blast playing with the ladies from church but my kids loved that it took a while for the game to get picked up!

Hours of free entertainment right there!

Making Valentines

For valentine's day this year they kids gave out bookmarks they made from paint color things.  When I told Bryan what they were going to be doing he looked at me like I was crazy.  "You are just going to go take a bunch of those things?" I was like "yep, I am".  The kids loved making them so he can just think I am crazy thats fine!

Handstands

Abby, Dylan and Lacey were all in gymnastics classes. They loved them but we needed to take a little break and slow down and not be gone every night of the week.  So anyway while we are in the middle of our break we have to deal with Abby's handstands all the time.  Obviously it doesn't bother Colby any!

Colby is his Nana's grandkid!

So I found Colby playing and wearing a Santa hat.  While it drove me nuts since it was totally not Christmas I know it made his Nana proud!  (Ignore the hole in the wall-that is a whole other story! lol!)

Blue and Gold Banquet

Dylan had his first Blue and Gold Banquet he of course had to make a cake. He decided he wanted to make a campfire cake.  So I looked around to get some ideas on a fun way to do it.  All the kids got in on the action and had tons of fun.  For the flames they all divided a couple bags of lifesavors and them smashed them with a hammer.  We then spread them out on some parchment paper and baked it.  then just broke it into pieces after it had fully cooled.

The part was such a huge mess.  Colby helped me grind up the oreos since he didn't help with the smashing of the lifesavors.  I should have gotten a pic of the aftermath!  Lets just say that you could barely see the table and then when the cake was fully covered with enough "dirt" the all started eating what was left.  off the table. It was hilarious!

The finished product!  I have a pic with Dylan in his uniform with the cake but of course can I find it? of course not.  I think it is on Bryan's phone....

Catchin Up!

Well so much for my "post on sundays" plan for this year!  Last year I was such a super slacker and well I will blame it on being busy with the kids, that and always forgetting to get batteries for my camera!  So I will bore you with a few catch up posts.  Some may or may not be from last yearish......

At the end of October in the 3rd grade they do a program called Night of the Notables. they kids all get to pick someone in history to research and do a project on.  They have to write a report, then memorize like 5 facts about their person and come up with a costume or outfit to dress like their person.  Then they have a night were they spread out all around the school and the parents and families get to walk around and have the kids tell their facts and then you have to try and guess who they are.  Point to anyone who can figure out who Dylan is just by his outfit!

Family Pics!

Bill and Jenny moved down to AZ but we arent talking about that cuz its stupid.  But she did ask me to take family pictures of her kids to she would have some up to date pics.  So of course I told her I would.  It was really fun.  It was the first time I was taking family pics of someone else.  They all turned out pretty good if I do say so myself but I am not go to post everyone elses, just ours!
I love this one of Lacey-I dont know really why but I just do.
These ones were just were I was trying to figure out which postion would work best with where the sun was.
And these were the kids just messing around waiting for everyone else to get there!
 These two were my favs.
Then we let the kids play at the park because they were really good and patient while we were taking the other pics.  I had to throw this pic of Lacey because it shows her purple shoes!  That girl has to have something purple on every day!  It is so funny!
I tried to get a fun one of Dylan at the park but he never stays still enough or is facing the right way for me to get one!---the little stinker!

Nauvoo Time!

This year our Anniversary fell on a saturday which just happen to be the day of the youth temple trip so we packed up the kids and headed to Nauvoo!  It was so much fun.  Bryan and I went and did a session in the Temple with some friends while their children watch ours.  It was awesome!  It was really fun to be there on our actual anniversary at almost the same time we got sealed 11 years earlier!  It was the first time we were able to go back on our actual anniversary day!  Anyway after we got done we hung out with Bryan and our friends while we waited for the youth to show up and them they all went to the temple.  Bryan got to go help so I was able to spend some quality time with my sweet kids!
We went and got fudge and went to the park and then after some begging we walked over the huge hill in front of the Temple and they got to roll down the hill!  They had a blast!  Then we went on a walk down to Old Nauvoo.
There weren't many people touring the houses so alot of the Missionaries were sitting outside and talking.  It was fun to see them all.  At one house there was an Elder sitting outside playing hymns on his guitar.  So the kids went up and asked him to play a couple songs and then sang along with him.  It was really awesome!
It was a long, long, long walk.  And I carried Colby a huge chunk of the time, but I had to make him walk some of the way!  By the time we made it back to the top of the hill Colby refused to walk anymore!  He just stopped and started crying and saying "I know walk more mom.  I stay.  You hold me mom?"  I felt bad for him but it was so funny!
Bryan had just gotten done when we got back so he took pity on Colby and walked out to pick him up!
